Time moves quickly – it’s hard to believe it’s been two weeks since the Republican primary. Before too many more days pass by, Anne and I want everyone who supported me and voted for me in my campaign for Mississippi’s First District Congressional seat to know how deeply we appreciate all that you did and your confidence in me to fill this important position. Because of your willingness to knock on doors, distribute yard signs, make phone calls, and talk with neighbors, friends, co-workers, and even people you hadn’t previously met at stores, shops and restaurants, our campaign exceeded all expectations. Advantages we lacked in funding and in various media and establishment support were more than overcome by your volunteer efforts, and because of you, we came very close to making a run-off. For your amazing efforts and your support, we’ll always be grateful.
We also owe an incredible debt of gratitude to our campaign staff, which consisted of an extremely talented, graduate student campaign manager, college students who worked when they could, offering indispensable help, especially during the last month, two field directors who worked night and day covering the twenty-four county district, and a volunteer who used all of his vacation time to very effectively canvass for us. Many other volunteers could have been considered staff, but one in particular comes to mind, who organized and executed a sweeping door-to-door effort which netted us many votes. Rarely have so few accomplished so much in such a short period of time. Although their remuneration was small (and in the case of the volunteers, non-existent), their devotion to our cause was enormous. Words to adequately express our appreciation escape us. Truly, we thank all of you so much!
Our call to restore the pillars of faith, family and freedom in America, and reestablish God-centered, limited Constitutional government in our land, resounded all over North Mississippi. Proclaiming this call and campaigning throughout the district was one of the greatest privileges I have known. Although our Congressional campaign ends, the profound need to restore these pillars of American society remains. We must all press on until our nation returns to the path of freedom established by our founders. And let me say once more, our nation must always be a friend to Israel. As you know, I’ve offered Alan my support and again congratulate Angela and Alan for their well-executed campaigns. This morning Alan announced poll results that show him leading Congressman Childers. The citizens of North Mississippi are ready to restore a conservative voice to Congress. I don’t know all the independents and other party candidates in this race, but several are friends of mine and fine people. I commend them for their concern for our country.
Getting to know so many of you has been an absolute pleasure for Anne, our children and me, and clearly one of the premier benefits of campaigning for this seat. We look forward to maintaining our friendships with you in the years to come. I genuinely hope we will stay in touch. If you haven’t joined me as a friend on Facebook, I invite you to do so! Please continue praying for us and for our nation. Thanks again for everything! God bless America, and God bless each and everyone of you!

Two on GOP Ballot Back Social Security Choices
Ross, a former Eupora mayor, says young workers should be allowed to invest part of their Social Security taxes in “government-advised long-term investments,” with the rest of their taxes to go into the traditional Social Security benefit system.
